It’s only a day late and about 50% of it works! Yes, Operating Systems is a fun class. But I’m past project 1 now and couldn’t feel better.

Busy, busy, busy!
It’s been a whirlwind of a past few weeks. I have two projects and a quiz due on Monday, plus a vtONE worship event Saturday night. I’m excited, but busy, so don’t expect to hear much from me for the next week.
On a completely different note, what’s up with taking away even more spaces from the commuter lot? There were two rows of empty Faculty/Staff spaces this morning, and every single commuter space was full by 8am. Two years ago, it was still easy to park at 9am. Virginia Tech, your parking system is broken. You need to fix it!
OS Project 0 done
Writing a memory allocator wasn’t fun. But now it’s done. It looks like this semester is going to be busy!
UPDATE 4PM: suspect was captured near the rugby field behind the south main Kroger. Now let’s see if I can get home. I’ve been gone since 8:30AM with little to do.
UPDATE 12:45PM: another sighting on campus. Neighborhood on lockdown. Looks like I’ll be spending the day in Christiansburg. Story is the top story on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and makes the front page of the Washington Post.
UPDATE 11:20AM: someone matching the suspect’s description was spotted in Squires student center. The building was evacuated. No cars allowed back into my neighborhood, even though classes were cancelled and students ordered to return home and stay indoors. Logan is attempting to walk back to the neighborhood. I’m at University Mall catching up with the intarweb.
I’m in my first class today, but I’ve already had some excitement. A prisoner escaped from the Montgomery County Jail (he was in the Montgomery Regional Hospital emergency room for a sprain). Apparently, he’s shot three people since escaping, one which was fatal. He’s hiding out on the Huckleberry trail between the trailhead at the Blacksburg library and where the trail crosses Tech Center Drive by the airport. Especially exciting, since I live less than 100 feet from this section of the trail. I drove to campus this morning.
Busy with Fall 06 week 0
Busy getting ready for the semester. Move in starts tomorrow. Ian and Josh Q are staying with us. Logan comes back tomorrow. Sno moved in today. Lots of moving.
I wrote a post about things getting started over at the vtONE site. Give it a read. You’ll like it.
Spending lots of time in the CEL
Will be glad when project 3 (a dumb terminal) is done. God willing, I will finish early tomorrow. I spent eight hours in there today.
I helped Richard move into his sweet pad in Stadium Apartments today. The highlight was the 8′-6″ long couch that wouldn’t fit in the front door. Our solution: pass it in the back door via the deck (he’s on the third floor). Sno and I stood the couch up on end, carried it up the few steps to the edge of the second floor deck (still on end) and lifted it as high as we could. Richard and JJ caught it upstairs, but couldn’t quite pull it in. Sno kept the balance while I ran around and joined Richard and JJ. With three of us, we got the couch over the railing and in the back door. And we only nearly smashed Richard’s sexy truck in the process.
I also started sanding down the chairs we inherited from 606A. I have the tops of the chairs sanded, save for the thin back supports. Hopefully, I’ll get them painted by the weekend.
Somewhere in there, I finished up my second project for Digital Design II. I’m starting to feel that the end is in sight.
Tomorrow is looking to be a tubing on the river day. Let me know if you’re interested in joining in.
Some big stuff is going on, so please keep me in your prayers. Also have two friends who could especially use prayer. Thanks!
Been keeping busy helping people move and doing a project. Friday through Sunday, I helped three people to move. One of the moves was clearing out 606A, which was the original NLCF office. It hasn’t turned over according to the landlords until now, so we had to take 15+ years of stuff out of it. And we had about 48 hours to do it. But now 503 has a new kitchen table and several other useful things.
I finished the implementation of my Digital Design II project today. Still need to finish the report before midnight tomorrow. But it looks like I’ll have time to go to the river either Tuesday or Wednesday, paint the table, and potentially help two more people move.
Behind on blogging
I’m alive, but a little behind. I’ve been trying to sort through my emails and get the number still needing response down to zero, plus barely sleeping. It’s been a rough past week. A lot of vtONE stuff came up, and I said goodbye to a number of friends. Congratulations to the VT class of 2006. Come back and visit!
I’m back in the DC area for about five weeks of work at Digital Sandbox. I start in a few hours.  After that, I’m hoping to go to Colorado for a week with my family. Then, I’ll be back in Blacksburg in early July.
Exams are done!
My junior year is over! I took two exams back to back this morning, and am now done. I’ll be in Blacksburg through graduation so I can see Michael and Cory graduate. Hit me up if you’re in the Blacksburg area and want to do something this week. I’m very available.
